November is Edmonton Housing Month
Nov. 22 is National Housing Day
Because home is essential
It is so much more than just a roof overhead. Home provides stability, supports families, builds communities, encourages personal growth and improves lives. A safe, secure home is the foundation for someone to build a better life and facilitate safe and vibrant communities.
#YegHousingMonth
Edmonton Housing Month is an annual campaign to raise awareness of the need for; and importance of, safe, quality, affordable housing in the Capital Region. Together, we can collaborate on long-term solutions and collectively support the efforts of the agencies, organizations and people that strive to address the issues of homelessness and affordable housing. What can you do?
Everyone has a vital role to play. Through our collective efforts, advocacy, learning and participation, we can positively impact the lives of those unhoused or at risk of becoming unhoused. Here are a few ways to get involved and support the work towards ending homelessness in Edmonton.
Reach out: Reach out to elected officials from every order of government and let them know that housing and ending homelessness are very important issues to you and that you are paying attention to their actions to address them.
Donate & Volunteer: Help local organizations working on the frontlines to end homelessness and provide safe—affordable housing. Consider donating or volunteering your time with local community organizations, like Edmonton Food Bank and those organizations listed on the side.
Attend our events: Follow this link for the full month of events planned. Our work involves understanding, planning, and implementing workable solutions towards ending homelessness.
Join the Conversation: The need for housing and action on ending homelessness doesn’t end when housing month is over. Raise your voice, share your opinions, and help keep the conversation going on social media. Remember to use #YegHousingMonth and #TogetherWeCanEndHomelessness when posting to social media.
Housing helps end homelessness. We can do this together.
